Julia thought it was great to be going to a Christmas Party at Grandma's friends house. Four friends, Butts, Anderson, Finley and Kowalski have grown from 10 children to 14 grandchildren plus 2 on the way. Thanks Joan for hosting this year. We had a great time eating and watching all the kids play.

Gingerbread House Time

Two times makes it tradition. Julia and I made a gingerbread house last year 2010 and then again today, Tradition.

We had so much fun. I did not have to help her this year.

She is a professional now. The gummy bears are guarding the house. Every time one falls, Julia eats it.

Puppet Show Day

Today I took Julia to Dallas Children's Theater to see a puppet show of the Nutcracker. It was so awesome. Julia really loved seeing the puppet show. She amazes me how well she followed the story line and loved the music in this show. She especially loved seeing the puppeteers at the end.

After seeing the Nutcracker Puppet show we met Paw Paw over at North Park and saw the Scrooge Puppet Show twice. Yes, twice. Julia loved it so much that she had us stay for the second show so she could get a front row seat.

North Pole Express

Julia and I went on the North Pole Express today. She was so excited today when she came over and I told her what we were going to do. We had a great time.

While riding on the train we sang Christmas Carols and had a special visit from Santa.

We took Julia and Valerie shopping for Toys for Tots tonight.

They had so much fun picking out toys for boys and girls who do not have toys, as Julia called it. She would pick out a toy for herself then one for others.
They have grown so much since last year 2010

Then we went to IHOP to turn the toys in and had holiday pancakes.

Then we went to Main Street Grapevine to see all the lights.

The girls and I went to Casa Manana to see Santa Clause the Musical today. They were dressed
so cute in their Christmas dress.

The show had nothing to do with Rudolph but we had to get Rudolph noses.

I love this picture. Julia will not take off her Rudolph nose and Valerie has to read the program before the show starts.

Valerie is going to Nashville to visit her Nana and Pops for Thanksgiving. So we took her to the zoo the Sunday before Thanksgiving and called it our pretend Thanksgiving with Valerie. She loves the zoo. She always says "more animals." But today it was not the animals that amazed her her, it was all the waterfalls. Everytime she saw water and waterfalls she oohed and aahhed.

She is being a turkey here. Gobble Gobble!!!!

Today when I went to pick Julia up at school Ms. Jennifer told me to go look at the morning message board on our way out. The children draw pictures and write on it every day. This is what my sweet girl had written. Enough said. I just love this girl.

She was so funny when she showed me. I was kissing and hugging her and she said "But Grandma Sofie is thankful for ham." and she just giggled.

Dallas Arboretum

We took the girls to the Dallas Arboretum today. They have a Pumpkin Villiage exhibit. The girls loved it. Cinderella's Carriage was a favorite.

They also had a "Fairy Tale Castle" exhibit. They loved playing in Beauty and the Beast, Princess and the Pea and Rapunzel Castles.

The flowers were beautiful.

I have lost count how many times I have been to Halls Pumpkin Patch with the girls. Tonight we went with the whole family to ride the hay ride. It was a beautiful evening and we had a great time.

Julia and Valerie spent the night tonight. We had a picnic.We went swimming. This is Julia who has now decided she can swim like a fish.
This is Valerie. She took water baby swimming lessons during the school year and she swims all over the pool with no help. It is amazing.

We went to the park. Julia learned how to go down the fireman's pole. She was so proud of herself.

Valerie loves to climb and jump so this was great fun for her.

Today we went to Jump Zone. The girls had a blast. They love to jump on the bed and the furniture so this was a nice change for their jumping to be legal. Julia loved going down the high slide. Valerie loved climbing up the to the top of the high slide then not sliding down and grandma had to go up to get her.So we found her a small slide.

Trying to keep cool today we went to Willow Bend Mall to play on their children's indoor play area. It was a great indoor play area.The girls had a great time climbing, sliding, jumping and balancing.

The highlight of the mall for the girls was going up in a glass elevator, so we went up and down and up and down again.

So if you are looking for a fun thing to do on a hot summer day find a glass elevator.

Julia always loves eating lunch in the car. We call it having a car picnic.

Today Julia and I went to the Omni Theater to see Oceans Show. Julia loved the theater in the round and watching the show from all angels. The show was mostly about dolphins with a few sharks sprinkled in. She loved the dolphins but not the shark.

Julia and I went to see Cinderella at Artisan Theater. This theater has become our most favorite place to go. It is performance totally by all children. The scripts are so funny.
Today Julia got a wand and a crown. The performances are very interactive. When they were trying to find who the glass slipper belonged to, they came up to Julia and tried it on her. She was so excited.

Nash Farm

Julia and I went to Nash Farm today. It is a restored farm in Grapevine made to reflect the life and times of settlers to Grapevine, The Nash Family. Inside the restored farmhouse we played with pioneer children's toys, looked at an old wood burning stove, learned about milking cows and had story time. We went for a wagon ride that was very fun. We also fed the chickens and played in the barn. She watered the vegetables in the kitchen garden.
She drove the tractor.

She played in the dirt getting the field ready for planting.

We listened to The Little Red Hen at story time.

Burgers Lake

Julia and I went with Granny, Brianna, Etan, Elizabeth, Kristin, Lauren and Rick to Burger's Lake. Burgers Lake is a spring fed lake located in Fort Worth. It has all kinds of water fun that we try to go to at least once a summer. Julia had fun playing on the sandy beach.

Family Vacation at the Beach

We went with the family to Panama City Florida to the beach. We stayed at a Condo called Splash. We had a beautiful view from the balcony.

Yes, we were the dorky family who wore matching "Family Vacation" shirts on our excursion day. We went on a boat ride to Shell Island. We collected lots of sea shells and we even saw dolphins swimming.

We spent every day at the beach.

Julia's favorite thing was building sandcastles.

Valerie's favorite thing to do was The Lazy River running through the Condo Lobby.We ate out at some great seafood restaurants every night. Julia liked it when Aunt Renee told her it was vacation so she could have cookies for breakfast.

One night when David was trying to decide which way to turn Julia told him to just follow the palms trees.

Julia and I went to the Artisan Theater today to see Hansel and Gretel. At the end of each performance, they invite the audience to come up and dance with them. Understandably, it is Julia's favorite part.

As the story goes there is a Wicked Witch in Hansel and Gretel. She was very afraid of her during the performance but then it was the first character she went up to for an autograph after the performance.

Julia, Valerie and I went to Casa Playhouse and saw Brer Rabbit today. We have season tickets and we started our journey today and forgot our tickets at home. But we regrouped and thanks to Aunt Angela we made it to the show on time. Angela and I have been reading Julia Brer Rabbit stories so she understood Brer Rabbit was a trickstar. So while she understood what was going on in the show, she was disappointed that Brer Rabbit was a real person instead of a real rabbit. Valerie loved the music in the show. She would stand up and dance every time there was a song being sung.

On Monday we took Valerie and Julia to The Fort Worth Children's Museum.

Julia's favorite thing to do is dig for dinosaur bones. It is always the first thing she wants to do. Valerie did not know what she was digging for but she loved playing in the sand.

On Tuesday we went to the Fort Worth Zoo. We had a great day with two sweet girls.

One of their favorite things to do is feed the birds.

David's favorite thing is snack time.

Yes, Julia is telling David which way to go and why, while Valerie is reading the map.

On Wednesday, we went to Parr Park for a picnic. Julia will always remember the time she got to dip her chicken nuggets in the carmel sauce because Paw Paw forgot the nugget sauce.

My niece Lauren is raising a pig for FFA at Northwest High School. His name is Kinai. Here he is in November when she got him. Julia has gone several times to help take care of him.

We went today to visit him for the last time. We brought Valerie with us. Lauren takes him tomorrow to The Houston Livestock Show and then he will go to live on a farm. These pictures show how much he has grown. Good Luck, Lauren, at the show.

Happy 4th Birthday Julia

Julia turned 4 years old today. I can not believe how much she looks like Angela at this age.

She had a soccer theme birthday. All year she has been telling us that she was going to have a soccer birthday. Angela did a great job making the soccer theme be as girly as possible. It turned out so cute.

The party was at the Grapevine Rec Center. They set up the gym with all kinds of preschool activities. There were 15 children from her preschool and church. They played with balls, rode bikes, danced, parachute, bounce house and more.

Cousin Valerie loved the bounce house with her mom.

After much playing, we went upstairs to a party room where the kids had strawberry cupcakes, trail mix and strawberries. All of Julia's friends were so cute and really seemed to have a fun time.

After the kids party, we went back to Angela's house for a barbecue with all the family. Julia loved having her everybody there. Angela and Jeff were great host. It was a beautiful day and we were able to enjoy the backyard they are working so hard to fix up.

There was a second cake for part 2 of the party day. Julia picked it out, soccer theme, of course.

Then finally the big finale a big girl bike with training wheels. She was super thrilled.

Sesame Street Show

Angela, Renee and I took Julia and Valerie to see Sesame Street Live today. Julia has been looking forward to this since November. When she woke up this morning she was very excited. Sweet mommies and their precious girls.

Julia loved the music and the performance. She has to listen to the CD every day in the car.
Valerie was super excited when she saw her favorite characters come out on stage.

Pinocchio at Casa

I took Valerie to see the children's musical Pinocchio at Casa Manana. We had a blast. She loved all the dancing and music.
